Training Your Puppy

A few helpful hints for the new owner..............

Dogs...Unwanted Behaviour

A folding kennel or crate, offers security by representing a ‘den’, ‘bolt hole’, lair or burrow to your dog, and you will find that frequent use of a covered kennel-crate will often eliminate distress related problems such as destructive behaviour and inappropriate urination or defecation.

Cages are also good for sitting on top of too !!!!!

Travel

If your dog has to be left for an hour or two, it is not unkind to put him in the crate. He will see it as his safe place or bed
Travel crates can help make your pet feel more secure and prevent inappropriate behaviour. It can help to partly cover the crate to make it feel like a safe den for him and line the base  with a favourite blanket or a purpose-sized bed.
They can also be used to confine your dog overnight or for limited ‘random’ periods whilst the family remains in the house.
Croft kennel-crates are ideal as they are collapsible, and should be chosen to fit into your vehicle. Motoring organisations recommend their use as many dogs are killed each year following auto accidents. In road traffic accidents, where the back of the vehicle opens, the dog can be released onto motorways or busy roads and quickly becomes disorientated.
The crate must be covered to create the ‘den’ effect.

You will find a link on our 'Links' page to a site where you can get crates.
