                                        Beagle Health Problems

The Beagle is known to be very happy, healthy breed, but there are a few illnesses that you need to be aware of when deciding if this is the breed for you.

MLS - a problem that came to light in the UK in late 2010 when a litter was born with clealy 'affected' pups. The responsible breeder brought it to the attention of the whole Beagle Breeding fraternity and since this time we have been testing our breeding stock. The results of all the testing is clear for everyone to see on an open database at www.salenko.co.uk/MLS
Go to the MLS page for more info.

SRM - Steriod Responsive Meningitus, more commonly seen in a young Beagle under a year old. Symptoms include lethargy, neck pain, reluctance to eat or drink, reluctance to exercise, fever, bad temper(due to pain), and sometimes gastro-intestinal upset.
Go to the SRM page for more info.

Cherry eye - or Glandular hypertrophy  is simply an enlargement of the gland of the third eyelid with resultant prolapse.
Go to the Cherry Eye page for more info.
