How we became Beagles lovers

Martin & I came to love Beagles purely by accident. We were looking for a dog, didn't know what breed, but it had to be not too big due to size of home. We are great 'Trekkies', and for those of you who don't know, The new series of Star Trek - Enterprise, has a beagle as the captain's pet. Well, we had found our dog.

Merlin came to us in July'02 from Georgina Kemp and the Timamso Kennel. Such a joy, I never knew dogs could be so funny. Thanks Georgina, you picked us a lovely dog. After a couple of months we felt sorry for him and decided to get him a playmate. Enter Sienna in November'02 also from Georgina. Both very happy little beagles, our family was complete.

Early in 2004, we moved house so that we had a bigger garden to make a safe and secure run for the dogs, and for others that we hoped to breed in the future. My old tom cat Tiptoes died at the age of 17 in April. Having never been without cats, I found it very hard and so in August we found our new little boy at the RSPCA in South Godstone.

Oscar is completely white with lovely blue eyes and is not deaf. He has such a character that he lets the dogs chase him for so long, then turns and chases them when he's had enough. I think he's a bit confused though and thinks he's a dog as he sits and asks for treats along with them !!!!

Merlin was our first attempt at showing, and although he had quite a few 1st and 2nd's, he never took to it too well. Partly our fault for lack of knowledge in training and partly the fact that he hates Judges touching him. After a lot of thought and advice from Georgina Kemp (Timamso), and Serena Parker of Serenaker Beagles, we have stopped showing him and concentrated our efforts on Sienna who is our little star. She loves showing with either of us and is so docile on the table.

Sienna is just over 4yrs now and was mated in August '05 to CH. Donay Kappa a litter of 4 pups resulted in us keeping Lady, our future Maidenstar will be in the show ring April 2006

In May '06 we added Arthur to our small kennel. We hope to mate him to Sienna and Lady in time, and he will also be in the show ring later in '06

January 2007 saw Sienna's second litter of 7 pups born from Ch Donay Zeus. From this litter we have kept Maj. She will be in the ring late July 2007.

March 2008 saw Sienna's 3rd and final litter delivered. 6 beautiful pups from Arty. We have kept Lily from this litter. A beautiful tan/white bitch who will be in the show ring Sept 2008.
